Discover one of County Tipperary’s most spectacular landscapes on this guided walking experience through the magnificent Glen of Aherlow and along the historic Rock an Thorabh Loop.

With 300-million-year-old mountain ridges to explore and exceptional views across the Glen of Aherlow, the Galtee Mountains and the Golden Vale, this 5.7km loop offers an unforgettable journey through some of Ireland’s most beautiful countryside.

Accompanied by your guide, follow forestry tracks and woodland trails along the ancient red sandstone ridge of Slievenamuck. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking vistas through the trees overlooking the lush valley of the River Aherlow, nestled between the majestic Galtee Mountains and the wooded slopes of Slievenamuck.

This moderate walk takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete, with an aggregate ascent of 300 metres. The highlight of the experience is reaching the spectacular Rock an Thorabh viewpoint, where panoramic views stretch across the Golden Vale, including Tipperary Town, the Silvermines Mountains and the iconic Keeper Hill.

Throughout the walk, your guide will share local history, folklore, geology and stories of this remarkable landscape, bringing the region to life.

After the walk, relax and enjoy refreshments or lunch in one of the welcoming local pubs in Aherlow, or return to Cashel Palace Hotel to continue your day in elegant surroundings.

For guests who wish to travel exclusively, with no other guests joining the tour, a private tour supplement of €150 per person applies.

A 50% deposit is required to secure the tour itinerary and guide. Full payment is due in advance of the guest’s stay at Cashel Palace Hotel.
