First Programme Airs Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024 on RTÉ One at 8.30pm
Join celebrated Irish chef Neven Maguire as he celebrates the magic of Christmas at the historic Cashel Palace Hotel in the first of a two-part holiday special. Neven prepares an array of festive dishes, including a Salmon and Trout Wreath, traditional Baked Ham, and Ham Terrine, blending tradition with seasonal flavors.
In this episode, Neven explores the Cashel Palace Hotel’s award-winning Bishop's Buttery restaurant, which proudly earned a Michelin Star in 2024. Neven reconnects with Head Chef Stefan McEnteer, a former colleague from his MacNean House kitchen, as they craft a signature duck dish together and reflect on their shared culinary journey.
Later, Neven enjoys an indulgent Afternoon Tea with Cashel Palace Hotel’s General Manager, Adriaan Bartels, before showcasing a Tipperary Cheeseboard featuring Cooleeney Farm and Cashel Irish Farmhouse Cheeses, a nod to the rich dairy heritage of the Golden Vale.
The episode concludes with a stirring performance by The Sunday Morning Singers Cashel in The Hall of the Vicar’s Choral, a stunning 15th-century structure atop the Rock of Cashel.
“I’m delighted to film my Christmas programmes in Cashel this year," says Neven. "The Golden Vale is home to outstanding food producers, and using these ingredients has been a highlight. Staying at Cashel Palace Hotel, reconnecting with Stefan at the Michelin-starred Bishop’s Buttery, and visiting The Hall of the Vicar’s Choral on the Rock of Cashel were memorable experiences.”
Produced by David Hare of InProductionTV and proudly sponsored by Bord Bia, Neven’s Christmas at Cashel promises to bring the flavors of Tipperary to holiday tables across Ireland.
